Bio: Mrs. Johnson has been the Executive Director of Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation (FRDC) since 1997. In 1997 Allstate Insurance Company selected FRDC as one of twenty-eight (28) partners around the country to implement a $45 million urban revitalization initiative. At the end of the five year initiative, Mrs. Johnson led the Fairfax, Cleveland/Allstate partnership to be recognized as the most effective in the country.

Under her leadership, she has directed over $62 million in new investments in the Fairfax neighborhood with $26 million planned for 2007 and $145 million planned for 2008. She was instrumental in securing Cuyahoga County as the anchor tenant in FRDC’s $17 million office building. This 85,000 square foot building houses FRDC’s corporate offices; Cuyahoga County’s Neighborhood Family Service Center and a childcare center. In her nine years, FRDC has grown from an organization with $26,000 in net assets to one with $4.7 million in net assets.

Prior to her employment at FRDC, she served as Manager of the City of Cleveland’s Housing Construction Office, Housing Director for Hough Area Partners in Progress and Legislative Assistant to the Democratic Caucus in the Ohio State Senate.

Mrs. Johnson is a graduate of the Cleveland public school system and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1989 from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. She received her Masters degree in Public Administration in 1992 from the Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University. Crain’s Cleveland Business Class of 2000, 40 under Forty and Kaleidoscope Magazine’s Class of 2000 Forty Club recognized Vickie. In 2002, she was presented with the Alumni Emerging Leadership Award from Cleveland State University.

In addition to her job responsibilities, Vickie is married to Darryl Johnson and is the mother of two boys (Christopher and Derrick) and volunteers with various non-profit and social service organizations including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Karamu House Inc. and Senior Outreach Services Inc. She is also a member of The Word Church.
