Bio: Mara Vanderslice is founder and senior partner at Common Good Strategies, which provides Democratic elected officials, candidates, state parties, and non-profit advocacy groups with the resources that will allow them to authentically engage and connect with America's diverse religious communities. Mara was the director of religious outreach for the Kerry-Edwards 2004 campaign, the first national religious outreach liaison for a Democratic presidential campaign. Mara has eight years of campaign and advocacy experience, working for organizations including the Jubilee 2000 campaign for debt-relief and most recently a coalition of five Protestant denominations to advocate a fair and just farm bill. Mara recently appeared on “The Colbert Show” and was able to convince host Stephen Colbert that Democrats indeed include people of faith. The New York Times featured her in a December 2006 article, noting that “a novice evangelical political operative is emerging as a rising star in the [Democratic] party…”
