Bio:
Maude Hurd is national president of the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN), a national grassroots community based organization of over 350,000 members families organized in 850 neighborhood chapters in over 100 cities across the U.S. and in Canada, the Dominican Republic and Peru. As a community advocate, Maude began her work in Dorchester, Massachusetts. She now helps plan and conduct campaigns to stop banks from using discriminatory lending practices and redlining low income communities. She negotiates with banks to reinvest in low-income communities and to provide loans to first-time home-buyers.
