Bio: Jane McDonald-Pines is currently workforce policy analyst for the AFL-CIO Department of Legislation where she coordinates training and employment policies, including workforce education and training, unemployment insurance, trade adjustment assistance and welfare-to-work, within the national labor federation. Her duties include research and policy analysis, liaison with Congressional and Executive branch staff as well as interface with federal agencies. Additionally, she provides support to AFL-CIO international union affiliates on workforce development issues. Prior to joining the AFL-CIO Department of Legislation, McDonald-Pines served in a number of senior positions with the AFL-CIO Working for America. She has a Master’s Degree in instructional systems design from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and is enrolled in the UMBC Doctoral Program in Language, Literacy and Culture. She is a member of the Communications Workers of America and the Baltimore-Washington Newspaper Guild Local #35.
