Take Back America 2007

Session: Winning Hearts and Minds: Why Rational Appeals are Irrational if Your Goal is Winning Elections
Description
Please join Drew Westen, PhD, Professor of Psychology at Emory University in a discussion about his new book, The Political Brain: The Role of Emotion in Deciding the Fate of a Nation. Drew Westen, hailed by Howard Dean as a “must read and must hear for any Democrat who wants to win in Mississippi, Colorado, or rural Ohio,” and by Howard Kuttner of the American Prospect as having written “the most illuminating book on contemporary American politics I’ve ever read,” will present pragmatic insights into how progressives and Democrats need to write, speak, and use imagery today, not in the future. He will move rapidly from diagnosis to prescription, offering example after example of the way those on the left have repeatedly shot themselves in the foot—and how they can stop shooting blanks on issue after issue, from guns to gays to abortion to poverty to taxes.

Our attendees asked why we didn't have Confabb Notes last year; it was so powerful they demanded it for next year.
